With varying educational backgrounds in creative writing, journalism, English, and more, our writers are dedicated to sharing their knowledge with others who have the same passion.

Mel Beasley
Mel Beasley has a bachelor’s in creative writing and journalism from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He brings 9+ years of digital marketing and writing experience to the table by writing for publications such as Lumina News and Encore Magazine. He spent 2 years as a college-level writing tutor, and is a certified writing tutor through the CRLA, which is a prestigious cert recognized by the Association for the Coaching & Tutoring Profession. He is a professional SEO blogger with experience writing for brands such as Boardworks Education and The Greater Wilmington Business Journal. One of his latest website and marketing projects has been building the website for the now New York Times Bestselling author, Nina de Gramont.

Susan Z. Miller
Susan is an English educator, editor, and writer who has enjoyed working within these fields since 2004. Her experience includes teaching at the high school and adult continuing education levels, and writing and editing for multiple regional publications, including Wrightsville Beach Magazine and Encore Magazine. Today she is a copywriter and editor for CastleBranch Inc., as well as editor in chief for the company’s internal e-magazine. Tameka Gates
Tameka Gates is originally from Michigan but now lives in Greensboro, NC. She has her Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature from Southern New Hampshire University and enjoys expressing her thoughts and observations on books and authors. Tameka has a love for reading and writing fiction and nonfiction stories and cares about the structure of a story, the transition words such as; furthermore, therefore, besides, etc., and the type of words used to create a connection with her audience.

Fairley Lloyd
Fairley Lloyd (she/her) is a writer and editor from North Carolina. She earned her BFA in creative writing with a publishing certification from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Her work appears in Thought Catalog, The Mighty, She Rose Revolution, and more. In her free time, she enjoys reading, dancing, and thrift shopping. Eleanor Nesim
Lucky to have The Monroe Theater Guild in her Wisconsin hometown, Eleanor began acting at a young age and fell in love with art. She later got her BFA in creative writing at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She continues to hone her skills in writing and acting, honoring a legacy of playwrights and directors on each side of her family by participating in theater. She believes in the power of art to heal, and the ability words have to move others, so she continues to write plays and nonfiction geared toward progress. Caitlyn Dark
Caitlyn Dark (she/they) is a writer and editor from Siler City, North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Literary Studies from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she also spent time teaching writing and composition. As a crafter of words, Caitlyn is a passionate serial comma advocate and singular ‘they’ enthusiast who loves exploring the real-time evolution of language and modes of communication.

Nate Methot
Nate Methot has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Finance from the University of Vermont. He worked for five years at a securities broker/dealer before an ALS diagnosis forced him to give up full-time employment. Two years into his new, wholly foreign and unusual life, he began to record thoughts, stories, and frustrations on a blog called, appropriately, Whatever I Want to Say. In the summer of 2020, about ten years after his symptoms began, he started writing down his experiences in earnest. John Kerr is a writer and junior high English teacher with published works in Helios Quarterly Magazine, The Wifiles, Listverse, WhatCulture, SFS Shorts, Well-Storied.com, The Writing Cooperative, and more. John has a degree in history from the University of Texas at Arlington. After graduating, he discovered a passion for teaching and sharing his love for literature. He loves discussing the intricacies of a well-developed plot, poem, or even a good sentence! He is the owner of a creative writing website called The Art of Narrative, where he shares tips and advice on creative writing.

Beasley Nester
Beasley is native to North Carolina but claims no town as her own. She has her BFA in creative writing and a certificate of publication from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she also minored in Spanish. Beasley’s favorite thing to write is fantasy fiction. Beasley has had the opportunity to dabble in many fields in her 26 years: traveling the world, modeling for top fashion houses, and earning a writing degree. Putting her found passions together, she created this site for people to find fashion ideas and writing tips, as well as her professional work ranging from her modeling career to published pieces.

Rachelle Scott
Rachelle obtained her BFA in creative writing at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in popular fiction and publishing at Emerson College. In addition to her contributions to Writer’s Hive Media, Rachelle teaches adult learning courses in English and history.
